    new_ SkyNet Data Grabing HowTo

    SkyNet Tutorial

    SkyNet is a offline data grabber. It is special because its very light, stable and uses less cpu resourcs. It looks very difficult at first sight because its made for linux so only keyboard shortcuts are used not mouse click. But once you use it you will know its better and simpler than any of the data grabers available.
    This tutorial is for SkyStar 2 card. You can use any other card but the latest SkyNet has a separate binary for SkyStar 2 cards. I will be using this special binary file.

    SkyNet is attatched at the end.

    Extract the contents of this file.

    As you can see there are two executeable files. We will be using the second file which has SS2 in the end of file name.
    Configuring SkyNet
    Now we will add our transponder settings and the pids for that particular transponders.
    Open the skynet.ini file in notepad.

    If you are not using SkyStar 2 card then download the apropriate streamreader.dll for your card and change the name in the skynet.ini to that file. eg.
    streamreader.dll=your_streamreader.dll
    If you are using SkyStar 2 card then dont bother changing the streamreader.dll line. Now to configure our paths. Scroll down till you find these lines
    Code:
    incomplete=bad
    temp=temp
    ok=ok
    These line configure were our files will be stored. You can store then any were but I would suggest that you use a diffrent drive for data grabing. Let's say that you will store them in the drive D:
    Open your drive D: and make a folder named "SkyNet" in it. Then open the folder "SkyNet" and create
    three folders in it named. "bad", "temp", "ok".
    Now in the SkyNet.ini file changes these lines to this.
    Code:
    incomplete=d:\SkyNet\bad
    temp=d:\SkyNet\temp
    ok=d:\SkyNet\ok
    Our paths are configured. The bad directory will contain bad or incomplete files. The temp will contain temporary data. Remember to manually delete files from temp directroy once in a weak. And the most important folder "ok" will contain our complete download files.

    Now scroll down to the end of the file and add this data.
    Note: this data is for Eutelsat 21.5E for TP 11617 V 27500. You must replace this with your settings.
    Also remember to replace the pids with yours.
    Code:
    tuner=11617000 V 27500000 A
    pids=5893 5895 5901 5902 5895 5896 5901 5902 5904 5888 5891 5907
    Now the Skynet.ini file will look something like this.
    Code:
    streamreader.dll=streamreader.dll
    exec_cmd=exec.bat {filename}
    autosave_time = 900
    #--- GUI
    ww=1280

    This is it for the SkyNet.ini. Save your file.
    Now run SkyNet (skynet.R32.1.22.SS2.exe).

    Take a look at the Signal level(quality) you must get a signal. If there is no signal then recheck your Frequency, Polarity and Symbol rate.

    Filtering Files

    By default the skynet is configured to grab all files which are above 1MB. To configure the Skynet to filer files by type and size press the 'g' key on the keyboard. To select a file type for download first select the file type by up/down arrow keys then press the '+' key to enable this file for download. And to get specific size of files presss the left/right arrow key. The first field specfies the minimum files size that would be download and the second filed specifies the maximum files size for
    download. You can chage the file size by pressing the +/- keys or by press the keys 1-9 on keyboard.

    Here I have configured it to download only mp3 files which has the minimum size of 3mb. It will only download those mp3's which are bigger than 3mb but less than 18mb.

    When you have configured all the filters then press the keys 'control+s' to save your filter data and then press the 'g' again to hide the filter settings. When you want to change the filter settings just press the 'g' key and reconfigure and save the changes by presing 'control+s' key.

    Here are the keyboard shortcuts.

    Code:
    Normal Modus:
    Numpad +/-                   : Zoom  factor 2
    Numpad +/- Shift           : Zoom  factor 5

    Ctrl F12                     : [R32] load standard config
    And remember

    Re: SkyNet Data Grabing HowTo

    Good work Tahir. I tried Skynet after reading your tutorial but it failed to receive datas :crying:

    I have SS2 ver.2.6d with driver version 4.3.3. How to get older driver version I have also seen few blind scan programmes also need the older drivers like 4.1.8.

    The Blink Scan only works on rev 2.3 cards not on 2.6d, so no need to get old drives.

    I am using the Driver Version 4.4.0, the 4.4.1 is new but i have problems with it, when i switch channels the video appears after some dealy so i use the old 4.4.0 driver (wdm)

    about SkyNet, which sat signal do u have, on my setup i used 21.6e and the Frequency and PIDS are for that sats.

    If you have differnt Satellite then u will need to alter the config file of Skynet for frequency and pids.

    @member

    I have tried a few times on BDA drivers of SkyStar but did not work for me. are you using the BDA drivers

    Re: SkyNet Data Grabing HowTo

    @Member @Tahir

    I installed the driver from the SS2 cd which came along with the card. It was 4.3.3. It takes lot of time when we change the channels. Atleast 5-10secs. I don't know whether this driver is BDA or WDM.

    There is a software called "Transponder Finder" but it needs Driver version 4.2.8 for SS2 2.6d cards to do blinder scan (software blindscan). If any of you can send that driver I would be greatful to you.

    I tried it on a data channels in Yamal 49E. But I failed
